The Problems You'll Solve

At Carta, our employees set out on a mission to unlock the power of equity ownership for more people in more places. We believe that the problems we solve today unlock the opportunities of tomorrow.

Our in-house Brand & Creative team is at an exciting stage of growth, and we are seeking a new Senior Designer to join us. Based in San Francisco, you will collaborate with Brand designers in NYC, the UK, and Europe. Your primary focus will be on developing our brand design system, while also supporting the creation of a variety of visual assets, including web and social media designs, advertisements, and marketing materials.

We are looking for a designer who understands the B2B space, has a passion for the technical side of brand building, and can combine meticulous production design with creativity and fresh thinking. As a key member of our team, you will take ownership of our visual design systems and actively contribute to the evolution of our brand.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reporting to the Creative Lead and directly supporting our visual and web designers.
  • Building, maintaining, and owning our brand design system, defining visual assets for Carta.
  • Transforming brilliant concepts into polished designs while maintaining organized archives and delivery systems.
  • Supporting our social team in designing and developing our online campaigns.
  • Empowering our marketing team by designing and maintaining user-friendly templates using Figma and the Google Suite.
  • Refining our production and delivery methods, particularly by leveraging AI to improve workflows.
  • Working in a tight-knit, collaborative team with a diverse skill set.
  • Flexibility in working across timezones (ET, PT, and GMT) with international colleagues.
  • Sharing knowledge, learning, and inspiring the team.
  • Collaborating and building partnerships with other Carta teams, including Web and Product Design.
  • Advocating for the potential of in-house design and creative.

The Team You'll Work With

You’ll be joining our Brand & Creative Team, which is part of the Marketing organization.

The Brand & Creative team is a group of designers, creatives, writers, and filmmakers dedicated to bringing the Carta brand story to life. We are spread globally and have become adept at working across time zones. Our approach is simple: we go above and beyond in everything we do while cultivating a refreshingly ego-free and creative environment. We believe in the power of collaboration to amplify individual talent, creating a space where designers can achieve their full potential. Our teammates across the globe are passionate about spreading the word about Carta, promoting equity ownership, and increasing access to financial education.

About You

You are a digital designer with a love for the technical side of B2B brand building. You take satisfaction in crafting and connecting the pieces of a visual identity, with an eye for detail and a passion for the bigger picture. We are looking for a Figma expert, well-versed in the platform and the latest advances and techniques, who understands the value of clean, easy-to-navigate brand systems.

You may have past experience as an artworker or web designer and want to broaden your skill set and play a role in shaping a B2B brand as it develops. You might be a freelance designer who misses the satisfaction of working in a team or have past agency experience but are interested in an in-house role. Whatever your background and experience, if you are looking for fresh challenges as part of an innovative and forward-thinking brand design team, we’d love to hear from you!

  • 4+ years of professional design experience (agency, freelance, or in-house) recommended.
  • Good knowledge of the B2B space and an interest in the future of B2B branding.
  • Senior level, proactive, able to work independently and manage multiple projects within specific timeframes.
  • Experience in building and maintaining design systems and brand guidelines.
  • Organized and efficient, delivering work within deadlines and specifications.
  • Mastery of Figma, including creating auto layouts, component libraries, and staying updated with the latest platform developments. Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Proven experience producing brand assets for web, social, and marketing campaigns, including wireframing, prototyping, landing page design, component libraries, static and animated ads, data sheets, and marketing collateral.
  • A passion for design and branding, with a solid understanding of typography, layout, composition, and hierarchies.
  • Proven ability to design and optimize templates for use by the wider team.
  • Excellent communicator, able to coordinate cross-team efforts and align with multiple stakeholders.
  • A curious, innovative mind that relishes problem-solving and enjoys collaboration.
  • Embodies the Carta trait of kindness in their working style, with an empathetic mindset and a team-first mentality.
  • Experience with video, motion graphics, or print design is a plus.

Select candidates will be invited to take part in a ‘design challenge’ as part of the interview process. This will be a short, hypothetical exercise unrelated to Carta projects.

All applicants are invited to include links to online portfolios, and live work examples with explanatory notes.

We would also love to hear about a piece of design or creative that inspires you. Please send us a short description, plus any relevant links.
