Problems You’ll Solve

At Carta, we’re building infrastructure for private capital, connecting companies, investors and capital allocators. We started with cap tables for Corporations but today we sell a suite of products across multiple nodes of the ecosystem. There are three business units - our Corp business unit (BU) sells products into C-Corps, Alternative Assets sells to a range of LLCs, and our Fund Administration BU sells to Venture Capital and Private Equity Funds.

The role of our platform team is to accelerate the business units. This is a unique platform role because you own both shared services and a P&L.

Today platform is made up of:

  • Equity platform - Owns our Securities API, financial reporting (of stock based compensation), and valuations platform
  • Identity and access management - Owns log-in, security, MFA and SSO.
  • Financial Products - Own key money movement and compliance infrastructure and the Capital Call Line and KYC business lines.
  • Developers Ecosystem - Owns our developer portal, infrastructure for Public APIs, and our developer ecosystem strategy.
  • Design Systems - Owns our robust design system, known as ink, and visual standards.

As the VP of Product, Platform, your work will impact thousands of funds, tens of thousands of startups, and millions of equity owners across the world. As you can see, this role is expansive. You’ll have to constantly make trade-offs as a capital allocator, a strategist, and an operator. You’ll tackle questions like:

  • How do we build for scale while ensuring a delightful customer experience across our businesses?
  • How can we define our developer platform strategy and ensure that we’re focused on the right things to make Carta deeply entrenched throughout the ecosystem
  • How do we ensure seamless integration and functionality of our platform components, from the Carta API and identity management to deployment systems, billing, and customer-service components?
  • How do we make the right product decisions for our customers while reducing redundancy across the platform?
  • How do we maintain a balance between accelerating business unit objectives and creating a cohesive, streamlined platform experience?

The right person for this job is deeply customer centric, business minded, and is bothered by inefficiency.

The Team You’ll Work With

The platform team at Carta is critical to our mission of building a comprehensive equity management ecosystem. You’ll be joining an organization that values creating delightful experiences for our users and has a deep understanding of the equity management space.

As VP of Product, Platform, you’ll have an experienced team of product leaders reporting to you. You’ll work with a broader team of engineers, designers, and customer facing teams to drive the Carta platform forward.
