We (Slack) are seeking an expert Program Manager to drive technical programs for our Product Infrastructure pillar! Product infrastructure's mission is to build services, tooling, interfaces, and frameworks to enable product engineers ship features faster and reliably to Slack’s customers. We build and sustain Search and ML Infrastructure, Core Slack services like Edge caches, messaging infrastructure, encryption and data residency, and we provide tools and frameworks to standardize Hack programming at Slack.

This role is multifaceted. Your primary responsibility is to engage cross-disciplinary staff across Product and Engineering to bring innovative AI solutions and Product Infrastructure solutions to Slack. In this role, you possess a strong understanding and passion for current ML modeling tools, lead multi-functional and vendor relationships, and provide alignment and structure across multiple technical work streams. You will apply your backend infrastructure expertise to resolve technical issues, and enable customer proficiency in using Slack’s product infrastructure services.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • You are the hub to connect and deliver the cross functional programs to drive Slack’s Product Infrastructure goals with a focus in Search and Machine Learning.
  • You actively drive process improvements across multiple functions within the team.
  • You partner with the Head of Product Infrastructure to work across Engineering teams and find opportunities for operational efficiency.
  • Webapp infrastructure - domain objects migration. IDR/EKM launching new regions. You will collaborate with product engineering on set standards Slack’s code base
  • You design policies, processes, and systems that facilitate scaling and growth.
  • You manage the life cycle of sophisticated, cross-functional AI/ML programs with considerable impact for Slack customers.
  • Develop and continuously improve internal, vendor and customer-facing mechanisms to support adoption of AI/ML solutions. Apply technical judgment to make program technological and business trade-offs.
  • Actively involved in identifying longer term strategies and building scalable, secure, reliable, efficient, ML products.
  • Provide hands-on project management during analysis, design, development, testing, release, and post release phases.
  • Build and maintain timelines, project plans, and communication artifacts to ensure everyone is operating from the most recent and accurate information.
  • Reduce risk by supervising dependencies and surfacing impediments.
  • Partner with tech leads in facilitation of the development of strategic technical projects.

What you should have:

  • At least 6 years leading planning, resource management, project lifecycles, and workflows in a dynamic product or engineering organization.
  • Strong verbal and written interpersonal skills, with sufficient level of technical capability to effectively communicate with engineers and identify technical risks.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate across multiple time zones.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal/social skills, and experience handling cross functional project work across multiple teams.
  • Ability to analyze large data sets and synthesize them into stories and slides
  • SQL experience extracting robust data sets into executive level dashboards.
  • Proven record of delivering sophisticated technical projects and programs with multi-functional teams.
  • Proficient in AWS Cloud offerings specifically Sagemaker
  • Technical expertise in machine learning, real time messaging, caching, distributed systems and running Data Residency.

For Colorado-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $143,500 to $197,400.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
